The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens or just University of Athens (UoA), established in 1837, is the top ranked and oldest university of Greece. In CLERECO, UoA will participate through the Computer Architecture Laboratory of the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications which is the top Computer Science department of the country, globally recognized with continuous participation in ICT research and development projects funded by the EU, the Greek government, and the private sector. The Computer Architecture Laboratory is specialized in dependable computer architecture topics and fault tolerance methodologies for computing systems with emphasis on fault and bug detection and diagnosis, self-test, online test, and post-silicon validation for microprocessors, embedded processors and massively parallel multicore/multithreaded processor architectures.

The Computer Architecture Lab’s research has been extensively supported by the Greek government and the EU (more than 15 projects in total) and team members have participation in FP6 and FP7 European projects. The Lab coordinates the nationally-funded research project HOLISTIC on hardware and software techniques for multicore architectures reliability and also the DIaSTEMA project on GPUs performance, power and dependability. The team is also currently involved in ESA’s space missions. Industrial funding to the Computer Architecture Lab is provided by AMD Research and Cisco Research and through equipment support by Intel, NVIDIA and Oracle.

In CLERECO UoA will lead WP3 researching on methods to efficiently characterize reliability of hardware components and will support WP5 activity to integrate WP3 results into CLERECO reliability evaluation methodology
