Thales
is a global technology leader for the Defense & Security and the Aerospace & Transportation markets. In 2011, the company generated revenues for €13 billion with 67,000 employees in 56 countries. With its 22,500 engineers and researchers, Thales has a unique capability to design, develop and deploy equipment, systems and services that meet the most complex security requirements. Thales has an exceptional international footprint, with operations around the world working with customers as local partners.

Thales actively stimulates the spirit of innovation that has always been part of the Group's history and culture. Technical innovation is clearly important for the company because its products, solutions and services are technology intensive. Thales recognizes the crucial importance of maintaining its own high-level capabilities in a number of key technology domains: complex systems, hardware (or sensor technologies), software, algorithms and decision aids. Thales conducts its research programs to support operating units in their efforts to differentiate the Group's products and solutions and gain a competitive advantage. Advanced pre-product research focuses on new technologies, new system and product concepts, and new engineering tools and methods for critical information systems. Thales Research & Technology (TRT), a network of corporate laboratories, makes a key contribution at this level as an interface between the academic research community and technological developments by Group entities. TRT's mission is to ensure that advances by its research teams meet the needs of the company's operations and to develop technology demonstrators and new technologies to expand Thales's portfolio of products and systems. The design of safety-critical and mission-critical embedded systems taking benefit of the most advanced technologies is a key topic of the TRT's activities.

THALES main contribution in CLERECO will be within WP1 that is responsible to set the reliability requirements and WP5 devoted to the validation and demonstration of CLERECO results in ES related applications.
