Politecnico di Torino is a strongly research-oriented university and conducts applied research projects with several partners. Within CLERECO POLITO participates through the Test Group (www.testgroup.polito.it) of the Department of Computer and Control Engineering (DAUIN). The Test Group is specialized in testing and fault tolerance methodologies with emphasis on test generation, reliability models and error correcting codes for microprocessors and memories.

Test Group activities are supported by Siemens ICN, Italtel SpA, Ansaldo Trasporti, Magneti Marelli, Thales Alenia, etc. The Italian government and the EU have extensively supported Test Group research. Test Group members have participation in FP5, FP6 and FP7 European projects (e.g., CHARME EP8776, CERCOM, EUNICE, RE-TRUST, SMECY, WEBINOS etc.). Test Group is currently involved in the STEPS2 project co-financed by Italian Piedmont Region involving universities, companies and research institutions of the Piedmont Aerospace District, which aims at supporting the research and innovation activities in the Space Exploration domain. Test Group is also part of the Politecnico di Torino DAUIN HPCInitiative that aims toprovide high-performance computational resources and technical support to both academic research and student labs.

In CLERECO POLITO will act as coordinator. Its main research interest in CLERECO will be leading WP5 working on the statistical models that will be the base for the CLERECO design methodology and contributing to WP4 working on understanding the impact of software on system reliability.
